m1 singapore fringe festival 2018 identity and promotional materials
the m1 singapore fringe festival, organised by the necessary stage is an annual art festival that brings together theatre, dance, music and visual arts. however unlike earlier editions, the 14th edition of the festival’s theme center’s around local famous artist: amanda heng’s ‘let’s walk’, which brings together local and international performances that are both thought provoking and invigorating to singapore audiences, relating themes on feminism and walking as a journey.
visualising feminist issues, it is similar to a sumigashi ink floating atop water, obscuring the the visibility of what truly lies underneath the surface. but with greater awareness in the current climate, does the surface start to clear and feminism rising to the fore. while looking at the logotype, the idea of walking is translated with the creation of an elongated ‘L’ as if to resemble feet, which is expressively broken up as a key visual to suggest movement and the walking journey across the page.
