the rapid urbanisation in asia brings with it many social, economic and urban challenges. the people of asia, being naturally innovative and creative, have always been coming up with ideas to improve their way of life. picking up on this natural inclination, nus enterprise and dbs foundation have organised the dbs-nus social venture challenge asia, the region’s premiere competition for social innovation. in its third year running now, it aims to identify and support these potential projects through mentorship, workshops and its prize money award.
asia, as a region, could be considered metaphorically as a fabric, bound together by its closely-knit geographical, cultural, historical and social background. it is like a single continuous thread that binds everyone together, especially in the globalised and digital age that we now live in. the issues and challenges we face as a region are inter-connected and affects one another, so the solutions that we come up with could improve the lives of everyone in the region collectively. the art direction we developed involves disparate illustrated elements that are connected together into a singular whole through the use of a continuous line. the large and bold typography, as well as the bright striking colours, attempt to reflect the huge impact that these participating projects makes with their groundbreaking ideas.
